Keep The Faith

Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”
(Mark 9:23)

It is probably not something most of us would care to admit but let’s face it: We all have our moments of doubt.

There are times when we doubt God is on our side. There are times when we doubt God can be bigger than our problems. There are times when we doubt He even exists…

Just have more faith!” … our well-meaning Christian friends would tell us, as if we can somehow conjure up some on our own.

How can you have such little faith?”… then there are those less well-meaning ones who would not miss a chance to admonish anyone for their crisis of faith.

But thank God, the Bible tells us there is One with the solution …

Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!”
(Mark 9:24)

The truth of the matter is, our level of belief or faith is not dependent on ourselves. We simply cannot muster up faith through our efforts because… faith is a gift!

But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of allfor to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit,
(1 Corinthians 12:8-9)

And because it is a gift, it is something we can only get (or get more of) from the Giver.

looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith,
(Hebrews 12:2)

But what does it mean? How do we look unto Jesus for our faith? How can Jesus help us in our unbelief?

So faith comes from hearing [what is told], and what is heard comes by the [preaching of the] message concerning Christ.
(Romans 10:17 AMP)

So go study your Bible, read some good Christian books, listen to some Jesus-exalting sermons… anything that will get the the message concerning Christ into your heart and the Holy Spirit will help to build up the faith in you.

Lastly, let not anyone tell you we need giant-sized faith to effect changes in our lives (though that will certainly not be a bad idea), as the Lord tells us…

Because of your unbelieffor assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.
(Matthew 17:20)
