“They teach us that tiny trees just need a little love, and that on this holiday (Christmas) we celebrate peace on Earth and goodwill toward all…”
– Barack Obama, on a TV show.
Of course, the President, a self-professed Christian, and his household is free to celebrate Christmas in whatever ways he wants, but it is not up to him to revise the meaning of the day.
Don’t get me wrong. Everyone can choose to celebrate this wonderful day by throwing parties or exchanging gifts, but just remember the day did not come about because tiny trees needed some love or an old man in red suit decided to reward well-behaved kids with toys, but because Jesus, the CHRIST, was born.
*You might be surprised, but Obama was actually quoting bible verses. In Luke 2:14, the angels were singing, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men!”. But I am pretty sure he would not tell you they sang because of the birth of Jesus.*
