Picked up my Bible this morning and was searching for some verses on healing. Without even going past the Gospel of Matthew, I have already found truckloads of them.
For the life of me, I could not fathom how could anyone who genuinely read his Bible can argue against the inescapable conclusion that healing is indeed the will of God.
Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people. News about him spread all over Syria, and people brought to him all who were ill with various diseases, those suffering severe pain, the demon-possessed, those having seizures, and the paralyzed; and he healed them. (Matt 4:23-24)
*Noticed it didn’t say Jesus chose whom He wanted healed, but it says He healed them all!!*
A man with leprosy came and knelt before him and said, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.” Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” Immediately he was cleansed of his leprosy. (Matt 8:2-3)
*Jesus wasn’t just able to heal. He was willing to heal.*
When evening came, many who were demon-possessed were brought to him, and he drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick. This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah: “He took up our infirmities and bore our diseases.” (Matt 8:16-17)
*Our healing was not an afterthought or an “along-the-way” miracle but was something prophesised even in the OT!!*
Jesus called his twelve disciples to him and gave them authority to drive out impure spirits and to heal every disease and sickness. (Matt 10:11)
*Jesus did not just do the healing Himself, He commanded His disciples to follow suit.*
The Bible is unequivocal about it: Jesus’ ministry is all about preaching the good news and… yes, healing!! While He did not always walk on water, He did not always calm storms, He did not always turn water into wine, He did not always feed thousands but He always heal!!
If healing is not God’s will, then what in the Heaven was Jesus doing, going against the will of His Father? Those who are of the “anti-Wealth & Health camp”, how will you account for all these miracles of healing?
Perhaps a more pertinent question to ask yourself will be: if healing or health is not for everyone, then what would you do if you or your loved ones are sick?
Jesus healed a boy… because this is what He does.
