It was a great sporting weekend by any standard. All the results that could go our way has gone our way. Now, we are firmly back in the title race once again!!
Just when I feared the the Manchester derby would end in a depressing draw, Paul Scholes popped up with a last gasp header to salvage our title hopes. It was no more than what United deserved, as we were clearly the better side.
The goal that gave City the blues.
Of course, we still needed a result from the Spurs vs Chelsea game and Harry Redknapp’s team did not disappoint. They duly beat Chelsea 2-1 at White Hart Lane, though it could have easily been 5-1 or 6-1 (yes, Spurs were THAT good), if not for some brliiant goalkeeping by Petr Cech.
Now my only concern is that Spurs will be our next opponent. We’ll have to keep a close watch on Gareth Bale who, despite being a full-back, has scored consecutively against both Arsenal and Chelsea.
“Not so fast, Carlos…” as Ancelotti found out the hard way.
Last but not least, Arsenal is finally taken out of the title race with their 2-3 defeat at Wigan. While I did not watch the match, it was quite amazing to know that they conceded the 3 goals in the last 10 min. Adding insult to it was the fact that Titus Bramble, whom I think is THE worst defender in EPL, actually got on the scoresheet.
Not that I have too much sympathy for the Gunners, but I just thought they might have fare much better with Fabregas and Van Persie around. Hope they have better luck in their next match against Man City…
Wenger, sulking over his bad luck.
