Is there such a thing as luck?
While many motivation speakers would tell you that you make your own luck, some people are just luckier (or unluckier) than others.
Take football for instance.
When Cristiano Ronaldo had his 42-goals season, he managed to go through it virtually injury-free, leaving him fit to play and score. Even when he missed his spot-kick in the Champions League final against Chelsea, John Terry somehow managed to slip at the crucial moment to make up for the miss.
On the other hand, Wayne Rooney and Cesc Fabregas didn’t have such luck. Both were having a wonderful season until their respective Champions League quarter-final match in the midweek.
Besides losing the match to a last min goal by Bayern Munich, Rooney picked up an ankle injury and could be out for 4 weeks. Just when we need him for the big match against Chelsea on Saturday… urghh!!! The whole of England and me will be praying for a speedy recovery for him.
Rooney floored: A sickening sight for both United and England fans.
Fabregas was worse off. After salvaging a 2-2 draw against Barcelona, he injured his fibula after being pushed from behind by his fellow Spainish national teammate, Puyol and could possibly missed the rest of the season and the World Cup.
A possible season-ending injury for the Arsenal captain.
Pray tell me, if this is not luck, what is???
