Ed And Gil

Edison Chan
The fallguy that everybody still loves to hate. but is the hatred for him justified?
Let’s look at some of the facts:
1. Edison was NOT the one who uploaded all the photos onto the net and he certainly wouldn’t want to do that.
2. The women in his pictures was definitely NOT forced into it and is all of legal age.
3. The pictures were deleted by Edison but was retrieved, WITHOUT permission, by the technician repairing his laptop.
4. The pictures were uploaded by people who, obviously, had malicious intent to shame all those involved.
But by some perverted logic, instead of condemning the guys who stole and uploaded the pictures, the victims (including Edison) were cast as the bad guys (and gals). C’mon!! It is just as ridiculous as arresting the rape victim instead of the rapist… duh!?
Gillian Chung
Years ago, this poor girl broke into tears publicly when a magazine published a semi-nude picture of her in a changing room in KL.
Now, she is being called a hypocrite in that incident because of her pictures with Edison…. Duh (again)?!
So just because someone took private pictures for their own pleasures, they must love to parade their bodies in public? What kind of logic is this?
*why do I think my viewership might increase for this post?*
Choose Better Things
But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!”
”Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.” (Luke 10:40-42)
Instead of rebuking Mary for being lazy and not doing anything to serve Him, Jesus said she has chosen the “better thing”, that was sitting at Jesus’s feet and listening, and He said it was the “only one thing” that was needed. Martha, for all her efforts in trying to please Jesus, actually got no credit for those works..
So, being the intelligent Christian you are, which way would you choose?

Due Dilligence
A certain Rev K from a local megachurch was criticising the preaching of “cheap grace” in one of his sermons and he referred many times to a “pastor in Singapore” as one of the main advocate of such false teachings.
No prize for guessing who he was referring to… from many of his descriptions, it was quite obvious to me that it was my church and my pastor he was talking about.
Anyway, wanting to hear the full contents of that particular sermon, I went to a popular video-sharing website and found a 2-part extract of it.
According to Rev K, my pastor was supposed to have said…
- “it is ok to sin”
-”we don’t have to read the Old Testament”
-”we don’t have to read the Bible”
-”we don’t need to know the 10 commandments”
-”we should sin so that grace will abound much more”
-”we lay hands on people to make them holy”
Guess what? My pastor has never said any of such things… and besides me, there are about 18,000 others who can testify to that!!
I really wonder where did Rev K get his info? Either he heard it from somewhere and hadn’t bother to check , or he simply didn’t know what he was talking about, which in both cases, were highly irresponsible for a person of his status. (I wouldn’t go as far as to suggest he could be deliberately making false accusations though)
I mean, it is one thing to have differences on doctrinal issues, but it is quite another to make some groundless and uninformed accusations against the leader of another church.
*due to obvious reasons, I won’t be showing pictures of Rev K… I don’t want to start a war between 2 churches*
You Would See…
Follow the instructions below:

Always love this thing….
5 Loaves and 2 Fish

Jesus, feeding the multitudes.
Guess from the title, you would know what I would be writing on…
Anyway, I was reminded that I shouldn’t always whine like David, but rather give thanks like Jesus and this story is a good example.
In one of the greatest and most famous miracles in the Bible, Jesus broke 5 loaves and 2 fish to feed the thousands that were following Him. He didn’t prostrate on the floor, didn’t cry out in loud to Father in Heaven, didn’t wake up at 3 am to pray a 3- hours prayer nor fast for 40 days before performing the deed, instead it was recorded that He simply gave thanks… (to Daddy God of course)
“Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, He gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then He gave them to his disciples to set before the people. He also divided the two fish among them all. They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces of bread and fish. “(Mark 6:41-43)
Our God is ”El Shaddai”, the God of more than enough. It is Him who gives the provision and the increase even if we are not adequate in ourselves. And He is moved neither by elaborate gestures nor laborious prayers, but simply by faith and thanks-giving.
I say Hallelujah… Thank You Lord and Amen!! It shall be done to me!!
Shout to My Deliverer!!
Was reading the book of Daniel and the book of Joshua last night. Didn’t know why I chose to those 2, but somehow I felt I was supposed to, and I would like to think it’s the promptings of the Holy Ghost.
So as usual, just like to share some verses with you, there could be some very important revelations (and as usual, the emphasis is mine):

Fall of Jericho
No one will be able to stand up against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you. (Joshua 1:5)
Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go. (Joshua 1:9)
Shout! For the LORD has given you the city!…when the people gave a loud shout, the wall collapsed; so every man charged straight in, and they took the city. (Joshua 6:16/ 6:20)

Daniel in lions den.
Daniel replied, “No wise man, enchanter, magician or diviner can explain to the king the mystery he has asked about, but there is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries. (Daniel 2:27-28)
If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to save us from it, and he will rescue us from your hand, O king. But even if he does not, we want you to know, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up. (Daniel 3:17-18)
The king said to Daniel, “May your God, whom you serve continually, rescue you!“ (Daniel 6:16)
Just a Man…
A China man was hailed as a loving husband when a picture of him carrying his dead wife on a bike during the Sichuan earthquake was splashed across the front pages of national newspapers.
Just months later, his devotion was put into question when it was reported that he remarried another woman. And now, his reputation as the greatest husband in China was left in tatters after it was further reported that he had intended to divorce his ex-wife on numerous occasions and was a unfillial son to his sick father.
Sad, but that’s the media for you…
I actually felt sorry for this guy the first time I read his story, as I knew he was never going to live up to the unrealistic image that that was built up by the papers. He was just another “hero” waiting to be pulled down from the pedestal. And it will be another story for the media to milk…
Many peole seems to forget he is human after all. And as humans, we will all make mistakes, we will all have our dark secrets, we will all have our weaknesses… It is unreasonable and pure wishful to think anybody can be perfect.
Heroes are for a time and purposes, not as a role-model for perfection. Nobody ever is, and nobody ever will be (except Jesus, that is)
You Re Fired!!
Nowadays, it is not enough to do a good job… sometimes not even doing a great job.
Consider these few gentlemen :

1. Vicente Del Bosque- Won 2 La Liga titles and 2 Champions League titles with Real Madrid. Contract not renewed by the club in 2003, despite winning the second La Liga title.

2. Roberto Mancini- Won 2 Serie A Scudettos with Inter Milan. Sacked by club in 2008 for “making negative comments” and to make way for Jose Mourinho.

3. Jose Mourinho- Won 2 EPL titles with Chelsea. Sacked by the club in 2007 due to differences with owner, Roman Abramovich.

4. Avam Grant- Won nothing but did one better than his predecessor, Mourinho, by guiding Chelsea to Champions League final. Sacked by club in 2008 because he is not a big name.

5. Felipe Scolari- Only 7 months with the club… sacked by Chelsea for a poor run of results.

6. Fabio Capello- Won 2 La Liga titles with Real Madrid on 2 different spells in charge. Sacked by club in 2007 for playing winning but boring football.

7. Frank Rijkaard- Won 2 La Liga titles and 1 Champions League titles with Barcelona. Sacked by the club in 2008 after an underachieving season.
Apparently, winning even the biggest trophy in club football couldn’t guarantee some their jobs… I really wonder what would?
It becomes more scandalous when you compare them to the below 3 gentlemen who still have their jobs:
1. Sir Alex Ferguson (Man United)- 9 EPL titles, 2 Champions League.
2. Arsene Wenger (Arsenal)- 3 EPL titles
3. Rafa Benitez (Liverpool)- 1 Champions League.
With the exception of Ferguson, who had 20 years to amassed those titles, the other 2 are not any more successful than those above who got the sack.
If Wenger or Rafa were managing Real Madrid or Chelsea, they would have been fired long ago for their “meagre” achievements. Even Fergie would not have the luxury of warming his butt at the manager’s bench for 20 years to win all that he has won.

In Benitez words, “it is crazy…” (and it gets even crazier when you know the managers are paid off in millions for being fired…)
Another Chance?
Infernal Affairs 1 (无间道)

The final confrontation between Lau and Chan
Lau:”… (I want be a good guy.)
(Ok, talk to the judge and see if he lets you.)
(That’s letting me to die.)
(Sorry, I am a cop.)
Lau: “谁知道?” (But who knows?)
I always wonder what if Chan Wing Yan 陈永仁 (Tony Leung 梁朝伟 ) had really given Lau Kin Ming 刘健明 (Andy Lau 刘德华) a chance to “be a good guy”?
At least, Chan would not have died like he did. Or he could have regained his identity as a cop first before exposing Lau. Yes, that would be lying to Lau, but hadn’t he been lying for most his life too (as an undercover)?
And would Lau cherished the chance and mend his ways? Or would he still find Chan too much of a threat to let him live? After all, Lau was an undercover too. But I’m of the opinion he would want to choose the former… to live a new life.
But of course, it didn’t happen. Chan rejected Lau’s plea and was eventually shot dead by another rogue cop. Lau survived but he would forever burdened with the guilt on his conscience and ultimately destroying his own life.
Everybody needs THAT chance…
Great Poems
