In My Words…

Healer Still

Not too long ago, I was introduced to this song, “Healer”, written by Mike G********* (pardon me for not able to remember his long surname) of Planetshakers. Personally, I didn’t really like it (very repetitive) and it was never going to be in my favourites list. But… knowing that he wrote the song after being diagnosed with “aggressive form of cancer”, at least the words held some meaning for me.

Unfortunately, for those who not already know, the Mike G had recently admitted that he lied about the whole cancer story and as expected, he was flamed left, right, centre… leaving his once illustrious career in tatters. I must confess that I felt a slight vindication after knowing it, as I thought I would at least be spared from the song for a while in church.

But while he didn’t have a terminal illness, he has a another problem of “pornography addiction” (according to wilkipedia) and was plagued by a “tremendous amount of guilt” over the years. Somehow, the lyrics of “Healer” came up in my head again: “I believe You’re my Healer…”, and it seems to me there is still meaning to these words after all.

Mike G  still needs his Healer…

PS: I took no personal satisfaction in seeing the downfall of any men of God, especially a prominent one like Mike G and I hope that he would bounce back soon, by His grace.
